Sensory and Movement Storytime

Our next session of Sensory and Movement Storytime for Kids with Special Needs (for children with physical, developmental, medical, emotional, and/or learning-based special needs) will be held on Saturday, September 6th at 10:00 am.

If your child needs some time to become acclimated to our setting, please feel free to come at 9:45 am.

This program precedes our Read to a Dog program at 11:00 am, in which certified therapy dogs come to the library. Two of our therapy dogs will be available around 10:40 am specifically for the Sensory and Movement Storytime, so as to accommodate children who may be more comfortable in a smaller group. All children are welcome to stay for the 11:00 am session.

Please register by clicking here or on the flyer below. We can't wait to see you!

Read to a Dog!

Just in time for back to school, our certified therapy dogs return for another visit! Meet Clover, Rusty, Zoe, and Janie (Turner and Marquis are on vacation!) at Read to a Dog on Saturday, September 6th from 11:00 am to Noon. This program is open to all ages and abilities, both readers and pre-readers.

Reading aloud to non-judgmental listeners (like dogs!) boosts confidence and improves reading and recitation skills. Moreover, reading together helps to reinforce letter recognition and vocabulary, and it creates a stronger bond with books. It's also a lot of fun! Don't believe us? Check out these great photos from our August session.

Ready to sign up? Cool! Please register by clicking here or on the flyer below. Woof!

Spanish Together

Joyce Schenkman, a certified preschool and elementary school teacher with years of classroom experience, is bringing her Spanish Together program to the Denville Library. Yay! Ms. Joyce will lead a four-week Spanish Together program for preschoolers (children ages 3 to 6), in which she will teach conversational Spanish and basic vocabulary. This fun and interactive approach uses songs, stories, and hands-on activities. This is a great way to share and reinforce the language experience for little ones!

You will be registering for all four sessions, although we understand if you may have to miss one session along the way. Please just let us know!

To sign up, please click here or on the flyer below. See you soon!

Circle Time

Looking for something to keep the little ones engaged and entertained? Look no further! Teacher Lara Rouillard will join us on Thursday, September 11th at 10:30 am for Circle Time. Ms. Lara will lead children ages 2 and up in sign language, songs, stories, and movement.

Studies show that sign language helps young children improve their communication skills, increase their cognitive abilities, and develop closer bonds with the people with whom they sign. Plus, it's fun! (Click here to learn more!) Sound good? Then please sign up by clicking here or on the flyer below. See you soon!
