Spanish Together: Spanish Language Lessons for Preschoolers!

Joyce Schenkman, a certified preschool and elementary school teacher with years of classroom experience, is bringing her Spanish Together program to the Denville Library. Yay! Ms. Joyce will lead a four-week Spanish Together program for preschoolers (children ages 3 to 6), in which she will teach conversational Spanish and basic vocabulary to kids with no prior experience in speaking Spanish. This fun and interactive approach uses songs, stories, and hands-on activities. This is a great way to share and reinforce the language experience for little ones!

Sessions are ongoing on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 am through October 1st, and we still have a few spots open. Want to join us? Please email to sign up. See you soon!

After School Art

Calling all budding artists!

We love art, we love painting, and we love creating. We think you do, too! So we are launching four weeks of After School Art for grades 2 through 6. We will meet on four consecutive Wednesdays from October 1st through October 22nd at 4:30 pm. Each week, we will learn about a different type of art and explore some of its associated culture. Then we will get busy being creative!

Each week of After School Art will have a separate registration. You do not need to attend each week. Here is our schedule:

Week One (October 1st): Mixed Media Collages

Week Two (October 8th): Color

Week Three (October 15th): Pointillism

Week Four (October 22nd): Day of the Dead Masks.

Please click here or on the flyer below to register for Week One: Mixed Media Collages.

You can also register for Week Two: Color by clicking here

We can't wait to see what you create! See you soon!

Sensory and Movement Storytime

Our next session of Sensory and Movement Storytime for Kids with Special Needs (for children with physical, developmental, medical, emotional, and/or learning-based special needs) will be held on Saturday, October 4th at 10:00 am.

If your child needs some time to become acclimated to our setting, please feel free to come at 9:45 am.

This program precedes our Read to a Dog program at 11:00 am, in which certified therapy dogs come to the library. Two of our therapy dogs will be available around 10:40 am specifically for the Sensory and Movement Storytime, so as to accommodate children who may be more comfortable in a smaller group. All children are welcome to stay for the 11:00 am session.

Please register by clicking here or on the flyer below. We can't wait to see you!

Read to a Dog!

As we settle into another school year, October is the perfect time to practice reading with our therapy dogs. Meet Clover, Rusty, Zoe, and Turner (Janie is on vacation this month!) at Read to a Dog on Saturday, October 4th from 11:00 am to Noon. This program is open to all ages and abilities, both readers and pre-readers.

Reading aloud to non-judgmental listeners (like dogs!) boosts confidence and improves reading and recitation skills. Moreover, reading together helps to reinforce letter recognition and vocabulary, and it creates a stronger bond with books. It's also a lot of fun! Don't believe us? Check out these great photos from our September session.

Ready to sign up? Cool! Please register by clicking here or on the flyer below. Woof!
